Hickory Smoked Chili

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Prepare grill for indirect cooking.
  2. Brown the beef over hot coals.
  3. Add onions and cook until translucent.
  4. Add all other ingredients to the pot and stir well.
  5. Cook over hot coals until slightly boiling.
  6. Move pot to indirect heat.
  7. Place 2 or 3 hickory wood chunks on the hot coals.
  8. Adjust grill to obtain 250° to 300°.
  9. Smoke 2 to 3 hours,stirring every 15 to 30 minutes to incorporate smoke into the chili.
  10. When serving,top with sharp cheddar and serve buttered bread on the side.
